Call me overly cynical, but three thoughts popped into my head today when I read that, in keeping a promise he made to assure passage of his health care legislation, an “anything but jubilant” Obama issued an executive order prohibiting the use of federal funds to pay for abortions except in the cases of rape, incest or if the life of the mother was in danger.

Thought #1: Obama was “anything but jubilant?”Poor Obama! He’s been deprived of the privilege of letting tax dollars help pay for the killing of unborn babies!! Let’s throw the man a pity-party. Seriously.

Thought #2: I still very much dislike the health care bill, but I’m thankful to the few pro-life Democrats who withheld their votes until Obama made his promise. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than the alternative.

Thought #3: There will be infinitely more claims of “rape” and “incest” at hospitals and abortion clinics.

Is my final thought too cynical and extreme? I don’t believe so. I think it’s exactly what will happen. Girls who want abortions, but do not have the means to pay for it themselves, will strongly consider playing the rape-incest card. And some will play the card. Why? Because it’s been dealt to them.
